The Process

How Concrete Patio Installation Works Step by Step

A residential concrete patio in DFW runs across five stages, from the first site visit to the final walkthrough. Most pours take two to four days on site once the base work is counted, and cure time runs beyond that.

On-Site Quote and Layout

An estimator comes out and walks the space with you. The slab footprint gets measured and the scope agreed, including any existing patio coming out. A written quote lands within a day or two setting the dimensions and thickness, with finish and pour date alongside.

Utility Locate and Excavation

The team calls Texas 811 before any digging so gas and water lines get flagged across the work area. Ground is then excavated to depth and any old slab is broken out and hauled away. The yard is left clear, not stacked with broken concrete for the next contractor to shift.

Base Preparation and Formwork

Excavated ground gets a compacted aggregate base, then the fall is set so water runs away from the house rather than back toward the foundation. Timber forms go in to hold the slab edge and carry that fall through the pour.

Reinforcement and Pour

Steel goes in across the slab to hold it together through clay movement, then the concrete is placed, screeded level and floated. Control joints get cut so the slab cracks where it is told to rather than wherever it likes.

Finishing and Handover

The surface finish goes on while the concrete is still workable, then the slab is left to cure before anything sits on it. The crew clears the site and takes the debris away, then walks the patio with you before sign-off.
